Just a little walk up on a hill nearby the Waitomo Glowworm Caves.
The view without me blocking half of it.
Waitomo Glowworm Cave Exit
Here is where we exited the glowworm cave. Unfortunately pictures in the caves are not allowed since the animals are sensitive to light. Was a spectacular boat ride.
Yes, I rolled down a hill in this ball. Quite fun, but not worth the price to repeat. (Rotorua)
A section of the thermal park in Rotorua.
This section is the most colorful part of the thermal wonderland. (Rotorua)
This part of the water bubbles, so they call the water champagne. (Rotorua)
Never seen such a natural florescent green color. (Rotorua)
Campsite nearby Wellington
So many awesome campsite spots for free in New Zealand!
My favorite city in New Zealand. Has everything you need and a nice feel to it. Weekend feels like a festival without the actual event. People lounging around and relaxing everywhere.
Libraries are the perfect spot to go if you need free internet.
Wellington Library Courtyard
The area outside of the library. Nice study place if I was still a student.
Te Papa Tongarewa Museum
This free museum is a must see in Wellington. We could have spent the whole day in there if we had the time. The layout and display are fantastic.
View Outside from the Museum
I was wondering what all those crates were for. (Wellington)
Another pic snapped from inside the Te Papa Museum.
Lord of the Rings
New Zealand was used to shoot much of the movie "Lord of the Rings." Lots of tours offered all over the country (usually cost $80 and up).
USA elections are going on and the whole world is watching. Some advertisement I saw in Wellington.
Wellington Botanic Garden
The free garden is quite big and provides a nice spot to stroll and eat a picnic.
I come across so many unique flowers I've never seen before while traveling. I particularly like this one.
Took a 2:30am ferry from north island to south island. Didn't know we won't be allowed to be in our campervan on the bottom deck. When staff told us to go upstairs, I didn't bring my jacket nor any food. So I was hungry and freezing upstairs. Not so pleasant. At least it was a free ride since the relocation company paid for us.
Driving along the coast
The drive along the coast is beautiful, even on a cloudy day.
Had to use the restroom on our drive to Takaka, so we stopped at a view point. Good view, but crappy bathroom.
This was the view from our free campsite near Takaka. The site even offered free WiFi!
Thrifty Relocation Car
This is the second relocation vehicle we got. Even slept 2 nights in this car. Not very comfortable, but budget friendly.
Picture doesn't do it justice.
Abel Tasman National Park
Had the beach area mostly to ourselves. Weather report predicted heavy rain, but we went anyways. Ended up being a lovely day, except that 20 min of downpour out of nowhere that got me drenched.
At the beach
Worth spending a day at the park if you are a beach person.
These deadly possum traps can be found all over the Abel Tasman National Park and throughout New Zealand. This introduced species is a real problem in this country. Kiwis will thank you if you run them over with your car. 20 points!
See the face?
Pancake Rocks Stop
Worth stretching your legs here if you have a car.
Pancake Rocks are a scientific mystery. The Pancake Rocks are call this because of the layers in the rock, but how those layers were created is still uncertain to this day.
Small little town with a gorge and a lake nearby
Hokitika even has a beach. To cold and rainy for us to dip our feet though.
The perfec spot for a home
I wouldn't mind having my house right here. (Hokitika)
The car is not attached to the wheels, still cool.
The Gorge by Hokitika
Awesome blue-colored water
Panorama of the Gorge
Lots of biting flies here.
Lake by Hokitika
Calm, but nothing special to go out of your way for. At least not in New Zealand.
Franz Joseph Glacier
This glacier used to be much bigger, but is melting away with global warming. Don't waste your time looking at Fox Glacier. This glacier was barely worth it after having seen Perito Moreno in Argentina!
This view point is between Franz Josef and Wanaka.
Absolute beauty. We stopped just to snap a picture.
The lake next to Wanaka downtown
Wanaka has a great atmosphere.
View from Iron Mountain. Wanaka is my favorite town in New Zealand.
Landsborough's Puzzling World
This place in Wanaka messes with your brain with illusions. Also has a maze which we finished in 1 hour on difficult mode. Beat the average time by a lot.
I'm actually standing straight, it's the room that's crooked. It's hard walking around in this room without tumbling.
Queenstown is the adventure capital of New Zealand. Besides hiking up this mountain, most other activities run $100 and up.
Sitting in the park and enjoying the view.
Under the tree
Couldn't resist taking a picture under this tree in the park in Queenstown.
CookieTime in Queenstown
A rather expensive cookie shop. Before you buy anything, in the seating area there is an IPad where you can spin the wheel after providing your email address and you always win something, from a tiny cookie to this massive shake.
Art at the Queenstown airport
Love running into random art, even when I don't always understand them. (This one is pretty obvious though.)
Our camping spot
Our third relocation vehicle in New Zealand and we got to park it overnight right at this spot next to Lake Pukaki. Stunning!
Another angle of this lovely sight.
You can camp around this town as well. Nice to have shops nearby instead of none like at Lake Pukaki.
I wouldn't mind having this as my back yard.
Christchurch Bus Stop
Got some free toothpaste from here. Took me a bit to realize that the toothpaste was up for grabs. My tube was running low, so perfect timing!
Chairs Memorial in Christchurch
5 years ago there was a big earthquake in Christchurch that killed and injured many people. This is a memorial to remind viewers of that trajegy.
Remaining Earthquake Damage
Some buildings still have not been repaired yet from the earthquake many years ago. Some due to insurance reasons.
Another building still in repairs. Apparently Christchurch used to be awesome, now they are still working on getting everything repaired.
